Education
I did a science degree at Flinders University of South Australia. I went in wanting to study palaeontology, but got kind of sidetracked by other scientific areas of interest. In third year I was primarily concentrating on molecular and microbiology, although I was also doing an Earth Sciences Major.
I decided to do Honours on completing my degree. It was a hard year. A massive learning curve, for sure. I never felt like I was doing anything right or well or the whole year. Still, I got through with a 2A. That's pretty good, considering I was having major marital problems at the time, five young kids and was working three jobs.
It really was an awful year.
My Thesis was looking at bacterial populations in a local marine snail. It was interesting work, and it gave me a whole set of skills in microbiology that I am still using to this day in my current employment.
More to come..
